Wheeler Historic Farm

Wheeler Historic Farm is an enjoyable, relaxing place to spend an afternoon! There are no roller coasters or water slides, but plenty of animals, farm equipment, a playground, and grassy areas to play. My daughter and I took her kids to Wheeler Farm on a beautiful fall day and had a fabulous time!

Wheeler Historic Farm is a working farm, established in 1887, and one thing it has plenty of: Cows. There is a milking barn with milking machines where presentations are given to school groups and others about how to milk and take care of cows. Most of the time, the cows just lounge around, soaking up the sun. If you are lucky, you will be there when a staff member feeds the cows their hay for the day.

If you like farm equipment, there are plenty of tractors to check out. My granddaughter was surprised that the tire was bigger than she was!

There are lots of animals besides cows, including sheep, rabbits, goats, and horses.

There was also an outhouse, which had to be explained to the kids. I told them about their Grandpa, who actually used an outhouse as the only facility when he was 4 years old. I’m not sure they believed me!

The staff wasn’t giving wagon rides at the time, but the kids got to sit on the wagon and pretend they lived back in the day before cars.

If you have an afternoon, Wheeler Historic Farm is a fun way to spend some time! It is open 365 days a year, from 9 until 6. There is no charge for entry, but wagon rides, milking demonstrations, and farmhouse tours cost a couple of dollars each. It is located at 6351 South 900 East, Murray, UT.
